New Laptop

It's amazing...I've never had a brand-new laptop before! I have never surfed the 'net so smoothly and been able to see it so clearly! My husband is not the most romantic of people, but when he surprised me on Sunday with it...it was the closest he'll ever get to being romantic! :^) I love it! (and him too!)

Growing up fast...

It's kinda hit me that the kids are growing up fast. Ian turned 10 a couple of weeks ago, and I can't believe it! In only 8 years, he'll be going off to college! Both of them have changed so much...they are so independant, which is great, but I know they will be needing me less and less. Deep things to think....and feel.

Sundays

While I love my weekends off and I have an awesome job, I still wish Sundays lasted longer....more sleep, get more done, relax more, more of everything!

Migraines suck!

I can count on two hands the number of migraines I've had since I started getting them nine years ago, but every one of them have been insanely painful. After two rounds of pain meds, a can of Mountain Dew (for caffeine), a warm flatbread sandwich (for blood sugar), an hour-long soak in the tub, and seven hours later my migraine finally let up. I know it was started by several knots in my left shoulder that wouldn't let go, but it definitely went beyond that! Since I've started getting them, I've been a lot more sympathetic to people who get them....they are simply and completely different from a regular headache. I'm so glad it seems to be gone now and my life can start up again. :^}

The other shoe dropped

Well, it had to happen...the year had gone much too smoothly so far! Today, while my clerk was out of school on an errand, my principal told the custodians to put 3 whole pallets of science kits on the story steps that I was going to use ten minutes later with a first grade class. To top it off, it was a class with a sometimes violent autistic child and three other special needs students! When I finally got a moment to ask my principal if there was any other place for them, he told me he didn't think I used the story step area and to (politely said) "just deal with it." :^P Which I did, but not with out quietly ranting about why didn't he at least come warn me first instead of having the custodians drop the 'bomb' on me. What a day! I need a glass of Pinot! ;^)

Perspective

Fact or fiction...it's an argument for perspective. In grad school, one of my classmates, was discussing fact or what is 'correct' and morally right as 'right.' I responded that it depends on your perspective. I think it's why I have a problem with formalized religion....many times throughout history religion has clouded what is fact by their opinion of what is morally right. For example, when Christianity was 'brought' to Native Indians of an area, the Christians thought this was 'right' because it was a fact to them the native people were 'savages.' Now looking back on it the roles were actually the reverse in my perspective that the Christians, in fact, were the 'savages' and it would have been morally right for the native people to attack back. These kind of situations of perspective happened consistently....in religions, big business, politics, etc.

It must be the reason I shy away from these areas.....

One of those days...

Today is one of those days when you come home and finally get a chance to turn around and breathe for a second.....only to realize you're getting a sore throat! No fair! :^P

However, on a positive note, a writer of one of my fav shows (Eureka) has blog I follow....and he congratulated me on my comment/correct prediction of part of episode #5! I can't help being such a incorrigible sci-fi nut!

Drought relief

I don't think I've ever been so happy to have three grey days in a row and rain for two of them! It has been sad to see our creek so dry and not to hear the frogs or see the turtles any more. I hear "peepers" (frogs) again!!!

Shoes and clothes

I've always hated shopping for clothes and shoes at stores. However, I've had an awesome and easy time with it the last two times, and have had very little luck with my normally successful online shopping. Owww...it's hard to admit that I might someday like shopping! :^P

First Day of School....again!

I wish I could recapture the joy I had when I was a kid of starting school each year....maybe I just need new school supplies! Ahh....the smell of new crayons!

Back to 'Real' Work

Summer is gone for teachers here....

Mmmm...summer vacation.....

For an educator, summer vacation is a rejuvenating time. I never want it to end, but yet I know I'm ready to go back to work. The end of it is definitely bittersweet...

It just doesn't figure...

that the same child who whines about how hot it is out, is the same one who wants to go to the beach/lake and keep being hot! It makes no sense!

Laughter

My daughter is trying very hard to get me to laugh...with things that are funny to an eight-year-old...that are not funny to an adult. What is funny is her frustration at not being able to get me to laugh!! I'm trying quite hard not to laugh at her frustration...heehee!

Hmmm....

How is it that my life has very little 'drama,' but my friends all seem to have it constantly. Is it that I'm boring or just a calm, stable individual? Hmm...
